Silica Dispersant for
Cooling Water Treatment
Geopure® 7010 is a specialized silica dispersant designed
to control the deposition of silica and silicate salts in
cooling water systems. High silica levels in make-up water
often lead to scaling on heat transfer surfaces, which can
severely impact efficiency and system reliability.
Geopure® 7010 effectively disperses silica and colloidal
particles, preventing their accumulation and keeping the
system clean and efficient.
By maintaining silica in a stable, dispersed form,
Geopure® 7010 helps systems operate at higher silica
tolerance levels, thereby reducing blowdown frequency and
conserving both water and energy. It is particularly
well-suited for cooling water systems facing silica
challenges in high-stress operating conditions.
- Type:Liquid
- Appearance:Light Brown
- Solubility in water:Complete
- Specific Gravity @ 25ºC:1.03 ± 0.05
- pH @ 25ºC:3.0 to 4.0
Physical Properties:
- Silica Control: Effectively disperses reactive silica and silicate salts to prevent scaling.
- Higher Silica Tolerance: Enables operation at elevated silica concentrations, reducing blowdown.
- Deposit Prevention: Controls colloidal fouling and suspended solids accumulation.
- Corrosion Protection: Provides reliable inhibition for mild steel and copper alloys.
- High-Stress Performance: Performs effectively under high cycles of concentration and challenging make-up waters.
- System Efficiency: Maintains clean heat exchanger surfaces, improving energy efficiency.
- Operational Flexibility: Suitable for industrial cooling towers, HVAC systems, and power plant cooling circuits with silica-rich waters.
Geopure 7010 dosages may vary somewhat according to operating conditions, but generally 25-50 ppm on the bleed is recommended. Geopure 7010 must be dosed continuously to the cooling tower basin either by drip feeding or electromagnetic dosing system. Automated systems to control conductivity, pH, and inhibitor level in the system water are available from GEOPURE, which may include micro-processor control and interfacing with other computers in the plant.
| Proper human safety products such as Splash goggles, lab coat, vapour respirator, gloves and boots should be worn while handling and applying chemicals. Splashes on skin should be washed off with water immediately. In case of splashing into the eyes, flush it with fresh water and obtain medical attention. Should not be injected.
